About MedSci

The Medical Sciences Congress 2011 (MedSci 2011) will be held in association with Queenstown Research Week 2011 (http://www.qmb.org.nz/). MedSci is the premier meeting in New Zealand for research focused on the basic medical sciences and brings together experimental and clinical scientists from participating societies and interest groups whose members comprise some of the leading thinkers in basic biomedical research in New Zealand. MedSci usually attracts approximately 250 delegates with an interest in health research and is fully integrated into Queenstown Research Week, which is expected to attract up to 1000 delegates.

The philosophy of MedSci is that each of the participating societies host their own sessions, with joint symposia and plenary lectures, featuring overseas and national invited speakers. Between sessions, all delegates will be encouraged to come together for refreshments, allowing maximum opportunity for interdisciplinary discussions and networking. As part of Queenstown Research Week, MedSci delegates will be able to attend sessions of interest at other meetings being held concurrently, as well as satellites before and after MedSci.

MedSci will focus on the latest breakthroughs in the fields of bioengineering, biomedical technology, endocrinology, neuroendocrinology and perinatal physiology in addition to more general aspects of physiology and endocrinology. Highlights will include:-

  • Invited experts from selected specialties
  • A program structured around selected clinical and scientific areas
  • A poster presentation session to showcase current work
  • An extensive trade display (with Queenstown Research Week)
  • Access to sessions from other Queenstown Research Week meetings and satellites
